ABOUT KAT

Kat has dedicated her life to the yogic path in the lineage of Krishnamacharya and is devoted to continuous study of the pure Vinyasa method enabling students to channel the universal energy towards life affirming intentions which can create deep healing and evolution.

After the pebble dropped into the vast oceanic yoga world with a 200 hr TT in Morocco, Kat has advanced her studies with various additional schools and teachers including: The Flow of Vinyasa at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai-India; Vinyasa and energetic bodywork with her greatest inspiration and teacher Simon Park; Prana Flow with Shiva Rea; Mindfulness meditation and yoga with Bodhiyoga school; Prenatal/Post Natal yoga with Uma Dinsmore Tuli and Tara Lee. Kat brings into the practice a nurturing, creative and faithful light encouraging students to discover their full potential so that they can live content lives full of love.

Yoga is a sacred gift designed to guide us home towards our innate peace, happiness and unconditional joy. Kat offers Vinyasa Flow classes, workshops, week-long and weekend yoga retreats and workshops which are devoted to creating a safe haven for you to shed all your protective layerings, all your negative thought patterns and habits, in order to find new positive, radiant, conscious and compassionate ways of being.

Originally from the lush and ambrosial countryside of Yorkshire in England, Kat spent her childhood climbing trees, reading fairy tales and loving her vegetable-growing grandparents. After higher education Kat spent ten years living fast and depleting her natural vibrancy while working in the fashion industry in London, and although it was a time she enjoyed, she soon realised that her deepest desire to be kind, happy and peaceful was fading into a pile of free champagne and designer handbags. Kat now resides in Getxo-Basque Country, northern Spain with her family and runs a yoga studio and European yoga retreats.

“There is a part of you that always knows what is best for you, there is a part of you that always knows exactly what to do and where to walk in this life.”

— Kat

Yin Yang fusion for the hips

Do you REALLY want to open the full-circumference of the hip joint in a fun and accessible way? Perhaps even peaking in a comfy lotus pose without feeling like your busting a bone just for the benefit of your Instagram pic?!! This class is dedicated to not just opening the back of the hip, not just the outer hip BUT the front and inner compartments of the hips too, in a take-it-easy kind a way. Physically you'll end this class feeling open, energetically alive and maybe even a little bit creative and ready to embrace pleasure too as we tend to the Svadhisthana chakra.

Vinyasa Krama in the lineage of Krishnamacrya

You may recognize the name Tirumalai Krishnamacharya, and you've probably heard of three of his students: B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, and T.K.V. Desikachar, Born in 1888 in Mysore, India, Krishnamacharya received his first instruction in Sanskrit and yoga from his father, his teachings are considered as some of the greatest authority of yoga in our modern day. After studying Prana Vinyasa, a very therapeutic, systematic and all inclusive style of vinyasa karma at the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram in Chennai I would like to share a traditional vinyasa class with you - be warned, this might change your idea of vinyasa yoga completely!

ABOUT MELINA

Meet Melina Gale one of our amazing teachers at EVOLUTION , Melina also headlines at ELYSIA Yoga Convention here is a little bit about her :)

Melina Gale

Nicknamed "the monkey" as a child, had you met a young Melina she most likely would have been hanging from a tree or doing flips on the playground. Fast forward to the present and not much has changed, the only difference is the tree is now an aerial hammock and the playground is now her mat.
After 15 years of practicing yoga on and off, chronic stress from the pressure of owning her own business drove Melina to finally take yoga seriously. Within weeks of a consistent yoga practice most of her symptoms were gone, and she instantly knew it was her path to share the healing benefits of yoga with the world.
Melina's teaching style is encouraging and playful, her mission is to help her students gain tools to overcome obstacles in their lives with the help of Yoga, and hopefully have some fun along the way.

Class descripton

The word 'tapas' is derived from the root Sanskrit verb 'tap' which means to burn. It is the 3rd of Patanjali's Niyamas and traditionally it is interpreted as 'fiery discipline'.
It is the fiery motivation within us all that keeps us coming back to our mats, and getting up no matter how many times we fall, it's that spark that keeps us chasing our dreams no matter how far out of reach they may seem.
Sometimes though, that fire within us can dim, and when it does we tend to feel unmotivated and/or indecisive. But it is just at that precise moment when you need to cultivate your tapas the most!
In this heat building Vinyasa class we will working on igniting our inner Agni (fire) in order to burn away all impurities of the mind and body in order to spark a new sense of passion into our yoga practice.

Lorna O’Shea

My approach to yoga is one that places importance on breathing throughout the postures and empathy towards ourselves. In observing ahimsa (non-harming) in our practice, we negate from mental, emotional and physical injury as we recognise that our yoga practice is adaptable and changes to accommodate our true needs to honour our true Self. My practice and teaching is influenced by different schools of yoga - Iyengar, Ashtanga, Akhanda and Yin and Restorative for surrender. Over the years, it has convinced me that most of our fundamental attitudes to life have their physical and emotional counterparts in the body. This is what I share in my class - control and integration of body through asanas, mind through pranayama and relaxation, and spirit through meditation.

ABOUT TRACY

Over the last 22 years, my career as singer and songwriter has taken me on countless adventures across the globe and provided me with many opportunities to record and perform with established talents such as Geoffrey Richardson (Penguin Café Orchestra), Martin Elliott (Michael Nyman), Ted Barnes (Beth Orton) and Mad Professor.

However, my biggest and best adventure yet, is the one you will find me on today with my harp.

For several years now, I have been very fortunate to study with world harpist and music coach Dr Diana Rowan. As the founder of both ‘Bright Knowledge Music Academy’ and ‘Sage Harpists’ - an organisation providing accomplished and professional harpists to play healing harp in medical establishments - Diana has generously shared with me her huge wealth of experience and vast knowledge of the harp; helping me to discover my own creative voice, connect more powerfully with my harp and bring a deeper joy to those I share it with.

Now, each time I play, I use this ability to connect and draw upon my Celtic, African and Middle Eastern influences to create beautiful resonant ‘harpscapes’ unique to each occasion.

As well as playing at many weddings, concerts and events - often based in nature - my harp and I have provided relaxation and yoga sessions for children with severe learning disabilities, pregnant women, women with breast cancer and both men and women who suffer from anxiety and insomnia. I have also had the honour of playing therapeutically for patients in a variety of medical facilities and playing harp during guided meditations and a variety of holistic therapies .
